North Herts Council has unveiled its new plan for a "fairer, greener and more sustainable" district.
The council's plan for 2024-2028 focuses on "responsible growth" to meet the current and future needs of the community.
Four key priorities have been set: thriving communities; accessible services; responsible growth; and sustainability.
The plan aims to guide the council's actions over the next four years to create impactful changes for residents.
Anthony Roche, North Herts Council’s managing director, said: "This plan represents our commitment to ongoing improvement and collaboration with our partners and residents.
"It’s about building on our successes, adapting to new challenges, and ensuring that the services we provide remain responsive, accessible, and forward-thinking."
To foster "thriving communities", the council aims to work closely with partners such as Everyone Active to deliver physical activity programmes for older adults and less active residents.
Grants will continue to be provided to organisations, and projects will be invested in, in a bid to to strengthen towns and villages.
The council also aims to modernise its services by enhancing online accessibility, simplifying customer experiences, and investing in leisure centres and parks.
A new waste collection contract is set to roll out in 2025 to "improve recycling".
Responsible growth is another priority, with housing developments and strategies in place to rejuvenate town centres and support businesses.
The council is also committed to sustainability and aims to reduce carbon emissions and improve biodiversity through initiatives such as rewilding projects and sustainable development policies.
Councillor Daniel Allen, North Herts Council leader, said: "It is a huge privilege to serve the people of North Herts and we have achieved so much together already.
"We know that there are challenges ahead, but together we can make North Herts a better place for all of us."
Residents are encouraged to get involved and share their views through the council’s various engagement platforms, including online consultations, local forums, and the Citizens Panel; this feedback will help shape the future of the district.
