There is delight for a new bakery in Hitchin after receiving a five-star hygiene rating.
Knead & Desire Bakehouse in Churchgate was inspected by North Herts Council on October 1, and received a good rating for food and hygiene safety, structural compliance and confidence in management.
That meant the bakery was given a five-star rating, much to the delight of owner Matthew Rideout.
"We are delighted to have been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating for our new bakery and shop in Churchgate," he told The Comet.

"We work very hard to ensure the environment we work in reflects the quality of the award winning organic sourdough bread and pastries we make."
Knead and Desire opened back in September, and has already become popular with Hitchin residents
Matthew added that things had been "going well" since the opening, and that a position for a new trainee baker was set to open soon.
He was also keen to thank customers for their support, adding: "The reception our new shop has received in Hitchin has been nothing short of phenomenal – thank you."
