Students from across North Hertfordshire filled the council’s chamber to learn about democracy.
The event was to mark the annual UK Parliament Week, celebrated from November 18 to 24.
Around 35 young adults from nearby schools visited the council offices in Letchworth on November 14.
Pupils from Fearnhill in Letchworth, Knights Templar in Baldock, and Hitchin Boys and Girls and The Priory School met councillors and MPs to learn about the importance of local democracy.
The day featured talks from North East Herts MP Chris Hinchliff, Hitchin MP Alistair Strathern, and the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster JP.
Cllr Val Bryant, executive member for community and partnerships, said: "It’s so important for young people to learn about and become involved in local democracy – so they can appreciate how it affects their everyday lives and how it fits into the national picture."
