It was Ladies’ Day for Blueharts with all four ladies teams gaining points while across the club there were four wins, four draws and two defeats.

The 1sts were up against a yet unbeaten top of the league side from Old Loughtonians and from the starting whistle the game was end to end.

The visitors scored first but soon Blueharts found their shape and came storming back.

A well-worked brace of goals by joint player of the match Ellie Cockburn put Blueharts 2-1 up at half-time and with three points within their sights they hit hard with another goal slotted away, this time by Kate Chapman.

Jess Miles was called into action on several occasions and was supported by another joint player of the match, Rho Keane, before good work from Olivia Marsh found her sibling Harriet who flicked the ball in for 4-1.

The visitors retaliated and put away a short corner screamer before the earlier favour from Olivia was returned by Harriet, as Olivia found the backboard twice in the closing stages of the game to leave a final and well deserved score of 6-2.

The result puts Blueharts third in East League Division 2SW. They face St Albans at home at 1.30pm this coming weekend.

The 2nds took on league leaders Saffron Walden at home and started well with joint player of the match Sarah Baxter and Lizzie Bayley bossing midfield.

The visitors scored first making it 1-0 at half-time followed by another goal in the second half.

Not discouraged Blueharts came back strong with fellow player of the match Claire Dainton scoring a rocket into the corner of the goal.

And with eight minutes remaining Tamzin Wright picked up a ball in the D and fired home for a 2-2 scoreline.

The 3rds travelled to Cheshunt and went 1-0 up after 20 minutes with Ella Blackmore scoring her first goal for the team.

Just before half time the Blues had a break and with some great passing Corinne Russell managed to make it 2-0, but their opponents did enough in the second period to score twice themselves as the game finished in a draw.

The 4ths won 3-1 against Welwyn to go third in Five Counties Division Four.

Hannah Ross was the first to break the deadlock with a close range rebound. A clearance on the line from player of the match Heather Storey helped keep Welwyn out of the game before goals from Gina Joseph and Jenny Burr secured the win.

The men’s 1sts faced Norwich City at home for an end to end game of quick attacking hockey.

Blueharts put the visitors under real pressure in the first half with player of the match Richard Middleditch putting a cross from Adam Wells into the net.

Blueharts went 2-0 up with an unstoppable drag flick goal from Paul Buckland but Norwich raised their game converting three goals in 20 minutes.

Some good work down the left by Simon Leeson and Middleditch created another opportunity for Middleditch to equalise but with a few minutes remaining Norwich scored to rob Blueharts of any points.

They travel to Cambridge University next weekend.

The 2nds lost 4-3 at Upminster. They host Wapping at midday on Saturday.

The 3rds won 5-4 at Rickmansworth. Blueharts went 4-2 up in the first half. The home team scored again but it was goals from Joel Ide, Richard Cherry and a hat-trick from Ashley Hammond that secured an overall win.

The 4ths drew 4-4 away at Potters Bar to maintain their position as top of Division 5SW.

On target were Dan Smith, Paul Jordan, Ben Guest and Theo Reintjes.

The 5ths were at home versus Bishop’s Stortford and went 1-0 down after Blueharts had a goal disallowed. A strong response in the second half and a goal from Dan Brooks resulted in a draw.

The 6ths travelled to Cambridge for a much-anticipated clash with Royston, the other side with an unbeaten record.

A dominant display with some great passing moves saw Blueharts go 3-0 up at the break with goals from Sean Storey, Mark Russell and Paul Krishman.

The second half saw a further five goals with Krishman completing a treble, another for Storey and well deserved goals for Joe and Peter.
