Blueharts ladies were keen to build on their first win of the season from last weekend, and did so in a fine fashion.
Away to Shefford and Sandy, Blueharts scored seven goals and only conceded two.
This impressive goal difference has bumped them to fifth in the East Women’s League Division 2W table.
Goalkeeper Jess Miles and her defence had to stay switched on as Blueharts retained the majority of possession while captain and player of the match, Caz Kumar, hammered home a hat-trick with all three being from the top of the D.
A token drag-flick from Jay Livermore added to the tally.
Also finding her form in this game was Kate Chapman, who also scored a hat-trick.
The ladies will be taking their positivity of the last few weeks into this weekend’s game at home to West Herts.
The 2nds were at home against top of the league Luton.
Despite putting pressure on, it was Luton who scored first. However, Jo Gibson evened things up with a goal-bound reverse stick flick.
Luton managed a second before half time, leaving the score 2-1.
A Blueharts attack saw Kate Chappell deliver a ball to Tamzin Wright who was free by the penalty spot to secure a 2-2 draw.
The 3rds had a tough match against Aylesbury, who scored in the opening minute of the game.
It was a hard battle and was 4-0 by the break.
A better second half performance only added one more goal to Aylesbury’s tally and the final score was 5-0.
The 4ths also faced a top of the table team, West Herts.
Despite many chances to score and showing resolve not to give up, Blueharts lost 3-2. Goalkeeper and player of the match, Ruth Hicks, showed impressive form by keeping the goal difference low.
Blueharts’ goals came from Gina Joseph and Louise Kenyon.
The men’s 1sts had a long trip to Wisbech but the sides went into half-time level with no first-half goals.
Rob Donald’s stick skills and work rate were a cut above the opposition and resulted in a flurry of penalty corners. Two were converted by Liam Connelly for a 2-0 win.
The 2nds were disappointed not to win against Bourne Deeping despite having most of the possession.
Bourne took the lead before Blueharts evened things up. Possession went back and forth in the second period and the final score was 3-3. Graham Burr scored two and Mark Flint one for Blueharts.
The 3rds won 6-2 at home to Luton while the 4ths’ run of good form continued with a well-deserved win against Royston.
Goals from Dan Pickard and Paul Graves took them to a 2-0 win.
The 5ths lost 2-0 at Shefford and Sandy.
The 6ths went ahead at Southgate Pitchers through Sean Storey.
The start of the second half saw Southgate equalise before Paul Krishman won the ball on the halfway line and held onto possession into the circle before putting Harts back ahead. Tom Russell converted two penalty corners to put the gloss on a 4-1 win for Blueharts.
