It was a tough afternoon for most of the ladies of Stevenage Hockey Club but the complete opposite for the men.
Only two of the five women's teams returned victories but all bar one of the men's squads were successful in avoiding defeat.
Leading the way were the firsts who scored a huge 7-1 derby success away to Blueharts.
Mike Oliver, Niall Trimble and Jack Scott all helped themselves to a brace with Scott Davies getting the other.
Will Hammond and Nathan Derrick scored as the seconds drew 2-2 with Cheshunt and there was a 4-1 win for the thirds at home to St Albans.
Tom Woolley scored either side of a Saints goal with Simon Russell and Harry O’Donnell also on target.
The fourths were the only ones to lose, going down 2-0 at Welwyn Garden City.
The only successful sides for the ladies were the thirds and fourths.
The threes beat Saffron Walden 2-0 while the fourths won 2-1 at Bedford
However, the first team lost 3-0 to Old Southendians, Charlotte Aldred getting the player of the match award, and the same score did for the seconds too away to Royston.
The fifths meanwhile went down 2-1 at Shefford & Sandy, Sarah Hoar getting the only goal.
