Stotfold picked up a valuable three points at home to Ardley United - a result which moves them further clear at the top of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.
They were helped by nearest rivals Leighton Town suffering a surprise 2-0 reverse at home to Cockfosters but the Eagles are now four points clear, although they have played three more games.
They are also four points ahead of Crawley Green in third but on this occasion, they have a game in hand.
Jordan Stevenson had given them a first-half lead from the penalty spot and a thunderous drive from Mason Spence doubled their advantage midway through the second period.
Josh Bamford wrapped the win up late on.
At the other end of the table Arlesey Town secured a 0-0 draw away at Leverstock Green, a result which kept them out of the bottom two despite Colney Heath's 2-1 win at St Panteleimon.
Hoddesdon Town now occupy the final relegation place ahead of rock bottom London Colney.
Baldock Town meanwhile lost 2-1 at home to Biggleswade United, Owen Robertson getting their only goal, but are nine points above the scrap below.
The big game in the week sees the Reds make the short trip to New Roker Park to tackle the leaders.
Arlesey meanwhile take on Bedford Town in the Beds county cup on Tuesday before travelling to Potton United for a League Challenge Trophy game on Thursday.
In the Southern League Premier Division Central, Hitchin Town picked up a 1-1 draw at home to Stourbridge.
Jack Snelus had given the Canaries the lead on 63 minutes after a fine dribble from Dan Idiakhoa.
But four minutes later, Charlie Horlock picked up a second yellow card and conceded a penalty, Lewis Barker going in goal.
He couldn't stop the spot-kick drawing Stourbridge level but he was able to prevent the visitors from scoring again.
Mark Burke's men are now ninth and go to Coalville Town on Tuesday before home games against Nuneaton Borough and Barwell on Saturday and Monday, February 20.
