The countdown to Armageddon in Division Four South West of the East Hockey League continued after both Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City stayed unbeaten.
The two ladies' teams are the runaway leaders of the division, with Stevenage's thirds edging their rivals by two points with two games to go each.
The last of them is against each other at the Nobel School on April 15 with the destination of the title likely to be on the line.
That was the venue for the latest round of fixtures as goals from Julie Rhodes and Elmarie Gunther gave the home side a 2-1 win over Letchworth thirds.
Most of the ladies' teams enjoyed a good day against their neighbours from the north.
The seconds won 2-1 away to move above Letchworth into fifth place in Division Two South West.
The home side had taken the lead but Katherine Swarbrick equalised just before half-time.
Her second from a short corner proved to be the winner although it needed some excellent defending in the final 15 minutes to preserve that advantage.
The fourths won 1-0 against their counterparts, Abbie Luhman, the scorer, while the fifths drew 1-1 at home after Lily Hawkes had put them in front.
The first team, however, lost 2-0 at Brentwood in Division One South.
Across in the men's section, there was a mixed bag of results and emotions.
The firsts won 2-1 at home to Bishop's Stortford to stay second in Division Two South West.
They are two points ahead of Bedford in third but their rivals have a game in hand, albeit against fourth-placed St Albans.
Stevenage end their season on Saturday with a trip to newly-crowned champions Harpenden.
Aiden Parker and Niall Trimble got their goals against Stortford.
Harry Wheeler scored two and Nathan Derrick one as the seconds drew 3-3 at Harpenden, although their relegation from Division Three South West has already been confirmed.
The threes lost 3-1 at home to league leaders Rickmansworth in an entertaining contest.
Despite the heroics of keeper Damian Nowopolski, they found themselves a goal down early on but roared back with an equaliser from Ian Jackson after a short corner.
Rickmansworth were able to pull clear after the break although there were chances for Stevenage, most notably from Jonny Swarbrick and Ali Albusson.
The fourths ended their campaign with a 3-0 loss away to Welwyn Garden City.
