Stotfold took another step closer to the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division play-offs after victory away to Crawley Green.
The 2-1 success means they remain second in the table but maintain a nine-point gap back to St Panteleimon in third and more importantly a 10-point gap to fourth-placed Risborough Rangers, who have a game in hand on the Eagles.
First-half goals from Mason Spence and Alex Coppin proved enough to negate a second-half fightback from the hosts.
That said, Stotfold could have wrapped up the victory but for the woodwork, Archie Sayer denied twice by the upright.
Attention now turns Tuesday night when Stotfold go to Leverstock Green.
Result of the day came at New Lamb Meadow where Baldock Town held leaders and title favourites Leighton Town to a 0-0 draw.
It means Leighton remain on top of the table, four points clear of Stotfold and with two games in hand, while the Reds remain 16th, comfortably clear of the relegation scrap after a fourth game without defeat.
Arlesey Town remain firmly in that though after a 3-0 loss at Shefford Town & Campton.
They are above Colney Heath and Hoddesdon Town, their two rivals for the one remaining place alongside London Colney, on goal difference only, although Heath have one game in hand and Hoddesdon two.
In Division One, Letchworth Eagles drew 3-3 in an entertaining clash at Thame United Res while in Division Two, Codicote drew 2-2 with MK Academy.
Hitchin Town suffered a 2-1 loss on the road in the Southern League Premier Division Central.
A goal two minutes from time from Jack Snelus proved a mere consolation as hosts Redditch United claimed the three points.
