A young squad of footballers have made history by becoming the first from Baldock Town to become county champions.
The U15s had already seen off pre-competition favourites Ware Academy and Cheshunt in previous rounds to book their spot at the County Ground in Letchworth against Colney Heath.
And after a hugely entertaining spectacle in front of a big crowd, the Reds took the honours with a 3-1 victory.
The game did not get off to the best of starts as a clearance from keeper Kian McAdam cannoned off a Colney Heath striker and bounced into the net.
But Baldock were not worried by the apparent set-back and continued to create chances.
Harleigh Johnson Standley and Harry Davies combined often to stretch the Colney Heath back three with their pace and movement and after the pair had gone close, it was Johnson Standley who pulled Town level before half-time, with a fine run and finish.
There were also denied by combination of the woodwork and excellent goalkeeping and the pressure continued into the second half with Daniel Kemp providing the amunition.
McAdam had to be alert as his opposite number at times to keep the scores level and with both in good form, it was perhaps no surprise that a deflection provided the go-ahead goal for Baldock, Davies having the shot that nicked off a defender and find the corner of the net.
This spurred Baldock on and George Kingham put the game beyond Colney Heath with a strong run into the penalty area and powerful finish into the corner.
Further chances came their way and while none of them were taken, the result was enough to create a historic new chapter for the Reds.
The youth section at the club were founded in 2003 as a way to get young players into senior football.
They have five teams in total from U13 to U16 and U18 and first-team manager Dave McAdam, coincidently the boss of the U15 squad, is not afraid to blood some of the youngsters in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.
Little Dave, as he is affectionately known, gave opportunities to 10 U18s this year as well as two from the U16 squad.
