The run of Datchworth Bowls Club’s men in the County Team Ten competition came to an end away to Mill End.
They were beaten on three of the four disciplines with the only success coming in the singles as Mike Mahoney battled from behind to win 21-20.
The triples could have been key for Datchworth but they saw an 8-0 lead after five ends turned into a 22-16 defeat, Mill End winning eight of the remaining 13 ends.
An East Herts League Division Three match at home to Buntingford Bulls saw a 39-34 win for the Golds.
Jack Harper, Ian Williams and Terry Metcalf dropped a three on the last end to lose 20-19 bu tthe 20-14 win for Dave Castle, Phil Berry and Ian Green was enough for Datchworth to take the victory.
They weren't so fortunate on Sunday in the Stevenage Mixed League as the short trip to Knebworth brought a home win overall and on all three rinks, 54-35 the final score.
The nearest they came to a rinks win was Daniel Williams, Anna Pattle, Julian Hales and Peter Hills who could only pick up a single shot on the final end and lost 14-13
Three Horseshoes also had a win in the SML, beating defending champions 48-41.
Howard Garden's run of success in the league continued with a 61-38 victory away to Holwell, picking up maximum points with all the rinks winning.
And they translated that into the SML Cup as well, beating Letchworth Garden City 73-68 although the four rinks were shared.
An even closer match took place when the HG men went to St Ippolyts in the County League Fours, coming away with a 32-30 victory with each rink winning by just the one shot.
There were also a couple of friendly wins.
The first was at home to Whitethorn a final score of 47-37, the visitors managing one rink success.
The second came at Kimpton with the winning margin 75-31. The top rink was Amy Bell, Jeff Brothers and Stuart Abery who won 38-9.
North Herts continued their winning form too, stretching to seven in a row.
They beat Hitchin 49-45, the rink of Tony Glenn, Andy Denniss and Gill Crane winning 23-7.
The second match of the week was also at home against Letchworth Garden City and ended with a 51-46 success.
One rink drew, and another won by only one shot, but it was the third team of Lynne Brown, Simon Tory and Robin Edmett who cemented the win with a 28-14 victory.
Both the men and the women of Baldock Town were in County League action, both against Three Horseshoes.
The men lost 35-32 but the ladies won 23-15.
In the National Family Pairs, Wendy and Steve Budge got through to the Herts final but lost 18-12 to a pair from Garston and Welwyn & District.
The Senior Fours of Brian Todd, Dave Davies, Peter Ellis and Mike Parsons have reached the Hertfordshire semi-final by beating a team from Potters Bar 18-12 while both Sam Andrews and Hayden Chambers have reached the last four of the Hertfordshire Junior Singles, the same stage that Jamie Claydon is now at in the Herts Two Wood.
