The county semi-finals trumped the Stevenage Mixed League for the spotlight this week - although there was plenty of action in both for bowls clubs across north Hertfordshire.
Baldock Town suffered defeats in the senior fours and two woods but wins by Sam Andrews and Hayden Chambers in the junior singles means they will contest the county final next week.
In two friendly games, they lost 72-68 to Stotfold but beat Barton-le-Clay 44-42 while the ladies lost 32-29 to Stevenage in the County League.
They did advance in the Stevenage Mixed League Knockout Cup, beating Stevenage 86-50, and their two teams won in the Cairns Cup with a 93-59 success over Letchworth and a 103-47 victory against St Ippolyts.
The latter were also beaten in the SML 56-40 giving Baldock five points.
Datchworth's one Stevenage Mixed League fixture this week saw them make the short trip to Aston, returning with a 56-36 victory.
The best rink win came from Sue and John Ellis with skip Steve Chamberlain who ran out 24-4 victors although 10 shots gained over the last three ends in an 18-17 loss for Anna Pattle, David Castle and Richard Harper helped too.
Howard Garden played two away friendly triples matches, beating Fairfield 60-35 and on all rinks but losing heavily to Letchworth Conservative Club 67-30.
