An ever-popular Hertfordshire race attracted runners from around the county once more - with plenty of success.
The Fred Hughes 10 mile event in St Albans starts and finishes on the fringes of Verulamium Park and utilises the lanes between Chiswell Green and Bedmond.
This year it was also the venue for the Herts County Veterans Championship for the distance and it was an event thoroughly enjoyed by North Herts Road Runners.
They had 16 in the field with Tom Webb setting a PB of 53 minutes nine seconds to finish fifth and lead the Squirrels to the team title.
He was followed closely by team mates Mike Roberts in 13th, Matt Sayers in 27th and Shahab Ahmad in 29th.
Sayers and Ahmad were sixth and seventh in the county run with Nathan Pask ninth.
The leading female from the club was Natasha Pitman who was the ninth woman to finish overall and fourth in the county.
Fairlands Valley Spartans picked up plenty of county medals across the age groups.
Simon Jackson took silver in the MV40-49 category with a time of 57:48, placing him 16th overall.
Jim Brown won bronze in the MV70-plus group, clocking 1:30:57, but the star of the club was John Harris who claimed gold in the MV60-69 race.
He finished in a time of 1:12:05.
Gabrielle O'Brien was the first of the demale FVS runners to finish, coming home in 1:17:14, with Marie Collucci next in for the club, her time 1:22:36.
Stevenage Striders had Peter Moye (1:08:31) and Helen Moye involved (1:32:51).
Away from St Albans and the county championships, Adrian Busolini of Fairlands Valley Spartans stole the headlines as he completed the 268 mile Pennine Way from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm, less than a mile across the Scottish border from Northumberland.
He finished in 120 hours 45 minutes 46 seconds, well inside the 168 hours time limit.
The South Downs and Arundel 15 mile event attracted a pair of runners from Stevenage Phoenix.
Jodie Kantas and Emma Mead took part in the race which was a point to point marked off road run that started in the village of Heyshott and then followed the South Downs Way to Arundel.
With 1,781 feet of elevation and plenty of muddy underfoot sections, Kantas finished in 2:45:53 and Mead in 3:08:48.
