Milton Keynes was the big event of the weekend for running clubs but there was still plenty of other events and milestones elsewhere.
There were eight from Stevenage Phoenix at the MK Festival of Running, covering both 5k and 10k distances
Five of them did the shorter distance with Jo Heasman the first of them home in 29 minutes four seconds, followed 31 seconds later by Heidi Cameron.
Sue Leigh and Jacky Murphy were separated by a single second, the first of them home in 30:32, while Wendy Summerbee completed the quintet in 35:46.
Mason Simmons grabbed a club record time for his age group in the 10k, clocking 41:40, while Conor O’Neill celebrated St Patrick’s Day in style with a PB of 48:19.
Charlie Day was the third Phoenix in 1:17:33.
Stevenage Striders opted for the three longest distances.
Neil McKinnon completed his first 10k in 1:01:48 with Adam Hough first home for the club in the half marathon, in a time of 1:24:24.
He was followed by Remy Knowles (1:58:06), Angie Hayes (2:17:19), David Galpin (2:21:13) and Danielle Lewis (2:47:00).
The longest race was over 20 miles with a couple of Striders picking up a number of PBs,
Glenn Cuzner was one with a time of 2:29:42 while Jess Ives-Keeler was the other in 2:51:07.
Lucy Crocker (2:51:09), Jim Callaghan (2:50:06), Hannah Warman (4:26:06) and Lianne Loosley (4:26:42) completing the set.
North Herts Road Runners well also represented in MK, despite the excitement of their club awards one night earlier.
John Auld said decided that the 20-mile race was "the perfect hangover cure", completing the race in 3:11:57, and he was joined by Mike Phillips (2:35:49), Ben Ryan (2:44:23), Ian Harvey (2:45:29), Alice Carty (2:50:36), and Stuart Cocks (2:50:38).
Rachel Arnott completed the half marathon in 1:32:24 while in the 5k race Hannah Ridley was second lady and 13th overall, finishing in 20:11.
Fairlands Valley Spartans also held their awards night with Yuko Gordon crowned new club champion.
Andrew Patterson and Ashley Johnson took the open short distance titles
Simon Jackson took the age graded short championship for men while Fiona Clarke was the club’s open long distance championship for women.
Callie Chapman was Spartan of the year while Judy King took the starter of the year prize.
Nick Gill and Vicky Archer were the most improved Spartans and the former celebrated by running 2:17:10 at the Essex 20.
His last 20 was way back in 2019 at Hillingdon an his finishing time here was a lot quicker than the 2:46:03 he did there.
Jim Brown was also there as part of his London preparations, clocking 3:06: 31, more than seven minutes quicker than the fastest 20 he raced last year.
Among the Squirrels at the 20 was club newcomer Becky Geekie, who ran a PB of 2:41:57.
Ben Sewell (2:19:21), Tom Barclay (2:19:20) and Emma Sandham (2:47:26) also completed the race as part of their marathon training.
Striders had three at the Zig Zag St Patricks Day Half in Peterborough.
First home was Ian McCelments in 2:24:28, closely followed by Chrissie Thomas 2:24:52 and Marc Hagland 2:24:57.
Lily Robinson completed the Bath Half in 2:00:20.
Jess Clarke of Phoenix did the Colchester Half Marathon, finishing in 2:16:41.
There was more than 500 at the Stevenage Parkrun, with some out of the 40 Spartans supporting Jane Wadey, Kerstin Weiner and Nicola Hatherly in their 50th parkruns while others, including the 55 Striders, helping raise money for Comic Relief.
