A second Herts League game for Stevenage Pickleball Club did not go to plan as they were beaten on the road in Berkhamsted.
They were up against West Herts Wizards B and lost out 19-13.
The contest consisted of teams of four men and four women playing in eight men's doubles games, eight women's doubles and 16 mixed doubles.
Many were very even contests with Stevenage winning their points in the women's doubles and mixed doubles but failing to score in the men's doubles.
A spokesman for the club said: "With several league debutants, and new players joining the club every week, things are looking bright for us and we will treat this match as a learning experience."
The next match is another away game as they go to the St Albans-based Batchwood on Thursday.
Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis and uses a solid paddle to hit a hollow, perforated, polymer ball, over a net.
Stevenage Pickleball are based at Stevenage Leisure Centre.
