Stevenage have splashed some of the Terence Vancooten cash on the signing of Huddersfield Town's Tyreece Simpson.
The striker comes in on a permanent deal for another undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old had joined the Terriers on a four-year-deal in 2022 but found his playing time limited, making at total of 10 appearances without hitting the net.
It meant the former Ipswich Town academy man had spent the entirety of last season on loan at Northampton Town, alongside fellow Boro new boy Louis Appere, making 40 appearances and scoring three goals.
Prior to that he had a loan spell at Swindon Town during the 2021-2022 season where he scored 11 goals in all competitions across 30 games played.
Stevenage manager Alex Revell said: "Tyreece is big, quick and strong, has played Championship and League One football and is still only 22 years old.
"We’ve worked hard to get him to come to us on a permanent and we can’t wait to get started."
Huddersfield Town sporting director Mark Cartwright said: "This is a deal that suits everybody concerned and allows Tyreece the opportunity to seek the first team minutes he desires.
"Unlikely to have featured competitively at a senior level for us this season, and not the profile of player that belongs at B team level, we wish Tyreece well for the future."
Simpson could have made his career in another sport, having been offered a professional deal with top rugby union club, Leicester Tigers, as he approached his 17th birthday.
Speaking in the Comet's sister title, the East Anglian Daily Times, he said: ""I'd been at Leicester Tigers for a couple of years and they offered me a contract.
"They said they hadn't done that for about 15 years for someone so young.
"I had to make the decision and my heart was always in football, so I chose football."

His signing comes mere hours after the club announced the departure of defender Terence Vancooten for a "significant fee", some unsubstantiated rumours putting that as high as £500,000.
Chairman Phil Wallace had said that the club were "several alternative options" to replace Vancooten and that someone would come in before the start of the season on August 10.
