Datchworth Bowls Club had a superb week in the Stevenage Mixed League.
They had gone into the weekend bottom but came away with two wins from two.
The first of them was an impressive 58-44 triumph at third-placed St Ippolyts with the visitors winning two and drawing one of the three matches, before claiming the extra end to take maximum points.
The top rink was Chris Hills, Ann Edwards, Graham Akers and Les Parsley who built up a 12-0 lead after three ends and eventually picked up a 22-14 win.
They then played Holwell at home and again took maximum points in a 55-34 success.
This time a 24-12 win gave the top rink honour to Janet Akers, Jack Harper, Keith Smith and Graham Akers.
Elsewhere, there was a game at home to Shire Park Greens in Division Two of the Welwyn Hatfield League, a match Datchworth won 29-26.
A 23-7 success for Roger Tomlinson, Clyde Martindill and Ian Williams was key to the victory.
Datchworth had two other WHBL matches, losing on both rinks and 37-25 overall at Kimpton, but beating Hertford Wild Cards 46-27 at home.
This time both rinks won with the best of them the 20-7 success for Janet Akers, Ann Edwards and Julian Hales.
Datchworth's week had begun with a third game against Hertford in six days.
The men were playing in the East Herts Bowls League’s Ranson Cup, with one rink at home and one away.
And for once they managed to win, 38-28.
The home rink went down by two shots but the quartet of Graham Akers, Rob Hazeu, Jim Smith and Derek Henley cruised to a 23-11 success.
In the EHBL itself, the Blues lost their final Division One away to BSP 37-30, both rinks losing, but the Golds beat Stevenage Reds 30-21.
The top rink there was Andy Short, Julian Hales and Terry Metcalf who won 18-8.
Stevenage's ladies though picked up some revenge as they beat Datchworth in a North Herts Women’s Bowls Association match 36-26.
However, Datchworth did have a winning rink in the shape of Sue Ellis, Barbara Williams and Ann Edwards who fought back from 16-6 down to win 20-16.
The men had a narrow 30-27 success away to Sawbridgeworth in the Men's County League.
A three-shot loss on rink one was overturned by four shots in the final two ends of a 16-10 success for Graham Akers, Steve Arnold, Derek Henley and Peter Hills.
North Herts Bowls Club started the week with a 70-58 loss at Buntingford, all that despite losing by one shot on two rinks.
They were Lynne Brown, Derek Gilder and Mike Jeffreys, who lost 17-16, and the team of Sylvia Bachelor, Barbara Middleton and Paul Riseborough, beaten 16-15.
Their second away match of the week against Biggleswade also resulted in a loss, beaten 67-30.
Their one winning rink was a 17-16 success for Gill Crane, Ann Morris and Riseborough.
A mixed week for Baldock Town saw them win home and away against Howard Garden, and 88-47 overall, to progress to the Cairns Cup final, while a 60-49 success in the SML brought them all six points and kept them top of the table.
However, in a friendly at Luton West End, they were beaten 59-49 and they exited the County Top Ten with a semi-final loss to Welwyn Garden City, beaten 3-1 in disciplines.
Aside from their Cairns Cup exit, Howard Garden had three other games.
Howard Garden had another busy week with four matches taking place.
A home friendly against Hitchin resulted in a narrow 48-46 defeat and an SML game at Royston saw the home side clinch a 51-49 victory on the final bowl of the contest.
However, Howard Garden did bounce back against Three Horseshoes, winning that SML game 90-24.
The best of the three winning rinks was Amy Bell, David Weemys, Tony Wood and Paul Billson who won 37-4.
