There was delight for one Fairlands Valley Spartans runner - as he ticked off a major personal goal on the world stage.
Andrew Patterson was competing for Great Britain in the World Masters Athletics Championships in Gothenburg.
He was ranked 25th in the 1500m and finished fourth in his heat in four minutes 19.88 seconds.
Only the top two qualified for the final though and he was left with an anxious wait before confirmation came through that he had sneaked into the final as the 10th and final fastest loser.
He was only GB athlete to qualify for the final and produced an even quicker run to finish 13th in 4:17.08.
Elsewhere, Chris Watling ran the Lee Valley Velo Park half marathon at the Olympic Park in Stratford.
Running 13 laps of the near mile-long hilly course he finished in 1:54:46 for 76th out of the 152-strong field.
Parkrun numbers were done as the wet weather and bank holiday breaks hit hard but there were still a total of 46 Spartans in action.
Almost half of them were at Stevenage were Grant Ramsay finished third and Alison Shelley clocked 150 parkruns.
Elsewhere, Jonathan Parr won the Sandringham run, John Harris was third man at Letchworth and Suzy Hawkins fourth lady at Milton Keynes.
