Division Three was again the place to go for goals in the latest round of fixtures in the Hitchin Sunday League.
Boca started things off with an 8-0 success at home to Ashwell while Buffs won 5-0 away to Lads Speak Out.
Neither were close though to Lea Sports PSG who got their season under way with an 11-1 win at home against All Saints United.
Jonny Day and Tom Newlands each got a hat-trick each, Tom Cowan two with Jack Hague, Toby Warner and an own goal completing the scoring.
There were less goals when Rovers 49 and VFC Rovers met looking to bounce back from difficult opening games, but there was no less entertainment.
VFC found themselves 2-0 down in the first half thanks to goals from Youness Zinbar and Adam Sayer.
A few chances for both teams followed, with Rovers 49 looking dangerous from corners, and the lead could have been extended further when a Zinbar bicycle kick went narrowly wide.
Joe Catterill also saw his shot from just outside the box come back off the post.
Changes to the VFC formation at the break saw them start the second period far brighter.
An early goal was ruled out for offside but they did pull one back through Lawson Farley, assisted by a ball squared across the box by Lucas Hamilton.
VFC settled into the half and began to put together some good passages of play and apply lots of pressure on the Rovers 49 back line.
Quick feet from Farley resulted in a free-kick in a dangerous area which Tyler Cox superbly exploited, rifled into the bottom right corner for 2-2.
At this point Rovers 49 took the game by the scruff of the neck and launched a series of attacks on the VFC goal, one of which saw Catterill put in a stunning cross from the left that found Rezza Rob six yards out who powerfully headed home to put the 49ers back in front.
The lead though was only to last a handful of minutes when after great pressing from Farley forced a loose pass which Jacob Moss picked up and slotted through to Owen Manning who managed to toe poke it past the keeper from the edge of the box, the ball creeping over the line.
That left the final score a 3-3 with both sides getting their first point on the board.
In Division One, Hitchin Rovers were at home against AC Malone.
Both sides had half-chances in the first 30 minutes before Malone’s centre back Jensen ran forward and some great build up play saw him one on one with the keeper.
He tucked it between the keeper’s legs for the first goal of the game.
Malone got a second before half-time when Kane Stanton’s header back across the goal was headed in by Ben Fairey and early in the second half the duo combined for the third, Stanton's deep cross to the back post headed home by Ben Fairey.
An sin bin saw AC Malone go down to 10 men for 10 minutes and Rovers pulled two goals back in just half that time.
However, while still reduced by one, AC Malone were able to get a fourth goal following a long kick from goalkeeper Charlie Middleton which put Stanton in to score one on one.
Stanton was then at it again driving down the left side to get his third assist of the game by finding Lewis Archer at the back post to tuck home number five and secure a 5-2 victory.
Goals from Aldous Taylor, Paul Morris, Owen Haynes and Archie Bates secured a 4-0 victory for Sandon against North Baldock but the game between Squirrel Taverners and Atletico 99 was not played because Atletico were unable to raise a team.
Unfortunately, the match between St Ippolyts and Arlesey Town had to be abandoned due to a serious injury to one of the St Ippolyts players and the league sends its best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
Coach and Horses got back to their winning ways with a 5-2 victory away against Troll Campbell.
Fairfield Park and GSS faced each other in Division Two and GSS picked up all three points with a 4-2 win.
Down & Under scored four without reply in their game away against Niche while North Herts Hatters had a comfortable 6-0 win away against The Chequers.
The Cock just edged out Cronies winning the game 4-3 to be the only side in the division with a perfect record after just two games.
Queens Herts Rangers were at home against Feed Up Warm Up and a brace from Jayden Banks plus one from Rafe Goodman helped them to a 3-2 win and all three points.
