Letchworth and Hitchin both recorded victories in their latest games - albeit in slightly different circumstances.
Letchworth won 26-20 on the road at Southend Saxons, maintaining their unbeaten start to the Regional One South East season.
This was not their best day though and it needed some gritty late defence to prevent Saxons from pinching the victory.
They did start well, a pass out of the tackle by Charlie Parkhouse putting Trimble in after a kick and chase.
A penalty by Josh Sharp stretched the lead before Benjamin Lloyd cancelled it out with a kick of his own.
Parkhouse got Letchworth's second try, throwing a dummy before speeding over, but Lloyd responded with a seven-point haul not long after.
A third unconverted Letchworth try was picked up by Parkhouse, the dummy again a key part of the score, and Sharp did land a second penalty of the afternoon for a 21-10 half-time lead.
A bonus-point score for Letchworth and a hat-trick for Parkhouse started the scoring in the second period but a penalty try allowed Saxons to remain in touch.
And that spurred Saxons on and they were only denied in the corner by some good tackling.
A grubber kick forward dribbled into touch five metres out and following the restart, Letchworth needed more solid tackling to stay in front.
The visitors also had to survive a yellow card late on as Southend finished camped inside the Letchworth 22.
The defence though held firm and they bring their unbeaten run back home on Saturday when Tring are the visitors.
A stunning first-half on a wonderful afternoon gave Hitchin a 53-12 success away to Fullerians in Counties One Herts Middlesex.
A delayed start due to traffic problems, four Hitchin players arriving bang on 3pm, made no difference as the visitors roared to a 34-0 lead at the break.
A clearing kick by Frazer McGown in the first minute was initially fielded, but when the ball spilled out of the tackle, Adam Miles gathered and outstripped the covering defence to score.
He then added the conversion and kicked over a 35m penalty on five minutes before a line-out gave Hitchin a platform to send Marcus Goss over.
Miles again converted and made it three from three with extras after a blind-side dart five metres out by Dan Barnes.
The bonus point came on 30 minutes with Fullers a man down, Matt Trussell picking the ball and pirouetting over the line.
A delicate grubber kick by Ryan Godfrey allowed Goss to touch down and complete the first period with a 34-0 lead.
The second half saw Hitchin playing with real freedom and a cross-field kick allowed Phil Ryan to touch down on the right edge.
Miles, a deserving man of the match a day after his 18th birthday, almost scored shortly after but was just beaten to a loose ball.
Moments later though he offloaded to Ryan who slalomed his way under the posts.
Another home sin-bin allowed Ryan to complete his hat-trick but at this point, the energy levels waned slightly and Fullerians bagged two tries from close range.
That was it though.
The Hedgehogs remain sixth in the table, level on points with Old Streetonians above them who they play next, at home, on Saturday.
The seconds made it a perfect day for Hitchin, taking a closely fought 33-26 win at home to Royston.
Man of the match Josh Casbon scored two tries on debut with further tries from Brodie Feaver, Jon Welsford and Ross Howard.
Greg Ranson converted four of the tries in their first win this season in the merit table.
Next Saturday they travel to rivals Weston.
Stevenage Town were beaten 48-19 at home to Actonians in Counties Three Herts Middlesex.
